Each design has a knitting technique incorporated within it that you will find most useful in many other projects. As with all of Iris's Fair Isle designs, there are short floats on the reverse side of the fabric. Animal Textures . The variety of fascinating textures and weights of fabric that can be produced on a basic knitting machine will amaze you. For this collection, Iris has used a standard gauge, single bed machine with a stitch repeat of 24 stitches. Some textures like the "fake fur" fabric do not look knitted, at first sight. Others like the "tiger texture" coat look expensive, but are not available from expensive stores. Included are plenty of practical notes with each fabric which will hopefully inspire you to experiment with these designs, using this book as a workshop experience rather than just another collection of designs.
