Description

Instructors known and respected throughout the industry Our instructors are industry experts with lengthy experience as instructors, and in the practical application of their technical expertise. Hugh Curley: SAS (Serial Attached SCSI), SATA (Serial ATA) Hugh Curley, who has worked on mainframe computers since 1967 and on personal computers since 1981, began teaching computers technologies to engineers in 1975. He has extensive experience in developing and presenting highly technical courses to engineering specialists from the development, test, and field service disciplines. In addition, his background includes hands-on technical and managerial experience in field service, system level test in manufacturing, and system level test in engineering. Hugh's ability to teach all of KnowledgeTek's interface subjects, and his teaching of some product specific courses, provides his course attendees the opportunity to compare and contrast all of the storage interfaces. Chuck Sobey: FLASH Technology, NPRML(Noise-Predictive PRML Channels for Data Storage), DDT (Disk Drive Technology) Chuck Sobey is chief scientist and founder of ChannelScience, an adaptive digital signal processing firm that specializes in MATLAB ®-based software development, interactive detection algorithms, chip architectures, testing and channel optimization for data storage devices. Chuck is an internationally known technical consultant, lecturer, business advisor and intellectual property expert. He has the detailed understanding of recording channels and transducer physics that only comes with over 15 years of direct design, manufacturing and test experience, publications and patents. He has helped pioneer innovations in recording head design, channel architectures and adaptive algorithms while working with small start-ups and establishing industry giants. Mr. Sobey is an engaging and enthusiastic presenter whose style rapidly delivers information and insight while creating a comfortable atmosphere that welcomes class interaction.Terry Shrader: HDDT (Hybrid-Disk Drive Technology), Perpendicular Technology, DDT Terry Shrader has over three decades of experience with data storage. His resumé includes tenure with some of the pioneering giants of the disk drive industry: Applied Magnetics Corp (AMC) and ISS in the 1970s, Shugart and Associates and Quantum during the 80s, and more recently with Syquest and Read-Rite in the 90s. Mr. Shrader has designed heads and media for use in disk drives, managed teams doing head and media design, established and managed reliability testing labs, and most recently served as Director of Quality Assurance for Read-Rite Corp. During his 8 years at Read-Rite he was heavily involved in all aspects of head development and manufacturing and spent a great deal of time in the off-shore factories that assemble and test both HGAs and HSAs. Mr. Shrader holds BSEE and MSEE degrees from UC Santa Barbara and has presented a variety of classes on subjects dealing with the data storage industry.Dennis Moore: SAS (Serial Attached SCSI), SATA (Serial ATA) Dennis Moore has been a KnowledgeTek instructor specializing in interface training for more than fifteen years.
