Teach For America is the national corps of outstanding recent college graduates of all academic majors who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools, and become lifelong leaders in the effort to expand educational opportunity. KIPP, the Knowledge Is Power Program, is a national network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools with a track record of preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and in life. The Broad Center raises student achievement by recruiting, training and supporting executive leadership talent from across America to become the next generation of urban school district leaders. The Broad Superintendents Academy is a rigorous 10-month executive management program designed to prepare CEOs and senior executives from business, non-profit, military, government and education backgrounds to lead urban public school systems. The Broad Residency is a two-year leadership development program that places participants into full-time high-level managerial positions in school districts and charter management organizations, where they can have an immediate impact on the education of America’s students. The Broad Foundation's mission is to dramatically improve K-12 urban public education through better governance, management, labor relations and competition. GreatSchools is an independent, nonprofit organization that improves education by inspiring parents to get involved. Parents choose GreatSchools to connect with each other - to find the right schools, to share stories and advice, and to get their parenting questions answered. Citizen Schools operates a national network of apprenticeship programs for middle school students, connecting adult volunteers to young people in hands-on learning projects after school. At Citizen Schools, students develop the academic and leadership skills they need to do well in school, get into college, and become leaders in their careers and in their communities. Partners in School Innovation was founded in 1993 with the aim of eliminating the racial achievement gap in public education. Resources for Indispensable Schools and Educators (RISE), is a national nonprofit organization that helps K-12 public schools in low-income communities attract and retain experienced, talented teachers so all students can achieve at high levels. Summer Search is a national leadership development program that helps low-income young people graduate high school, go to college, gain successful careers, and give back to society. Achievement First is a non-profit charter school management organization that operates a growing network of high-performing, K-12 public schools in Connecticut and New York. AF was founded in 2003 by the leaders of Amistad Academy, a nationally acclaimed charter school in New Haven, CT. The mission of IDEA Public Schools is to prepare students from underserved communities for success in college and citizenship. The Success Charter Network, a charter management organization (CMO), opened its flagship, Harlem Success Academy Charter School, in August 2006. It opens elementary schools in high-needs neighborhoods to not only target, but prevent an achievement gap from ever arising. School Leaders Network creates communities of practice for public school principals to work together, to solve real problems, and create change, school-by-school, so that all children in under-resourced communities graduate with college-ready skills. Sesame Workshop develops innovative and engaging educational content for television, radio, books, magazines, interactive media and outreach. The Workshop effectively and efficiently reaches millions of children, parents, caregivers and educators-locally, nationally, and globally. The Freedom Writers Foundation promotes acceptance and innovative teaching methods in classrooms across the country. The Partnership for LA Schools is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). It is led by Mayor Villaraigosa that will directly support and manage two families of schools, composed of a high school and the elementary and middle schools that feed it. AUSL has been changing the reality of underperforming and underserved schools in high-poverty neighborhoods of Chicago since 2001. We recognize that the children in our low-income, urban public schools require specific and rigorous preparation to reach them, and then teach them to achieve. New Schools for New Orleans (NSNO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to achieving excellent public schools for every child in New Orleans. Founded in April 2006, NSNO hopes to build a system of schools, not a school system, by encouraging the schools to determine their individual and collective needs and by supporting them in their growth toward operational excellence and academic rigor.
