Description

The Food Service Division sells primarily to large government accounts. These accounts include, but are not limited to: state government facilities, county government facilities, unified school districts, federal penitentiaries, private prisons and state-run hospitals, just about any government or public facility that has a resident population. Like every division of LA Foods, our Food Service Division strives to bring our customers the highest quality at the best possible price. We focus on customer satisfaction in order to build long terms relationships. You can feel secure in choosing LA Foods. We have been in business for 15 years with creating 15 years of business satisfaction for our customers. We would be happy to provide you with references from our satisfied customers.

We notify our customers about special buys and offers on a regular basis. These opportunities occur due to packaging changes and over production which is usually the result of manufacturers’ sales forecasting miscalculations. This allows us to pass on tremendous savings to our customers… provided specific restrictions are observed. Some food items may only be sold to prisons or to food banks. Other items may only be be sold in certain geographic areas due to sensitive labels or a variety of reasons. We honor all agreements on restrictions from manufacturers and therefore we are constantly offered outstanding opportunities from major manufacturers around the world.

LA Foods was started in 1990 by Michael (Max) Gold and Mark Davis. The company initially focused on helping manufacturers liquidate institutional foods and ingredients. The strategy was to look for manufacturers’ closeouts, overruns, discontinued lines, close-code dated products, factory seconds and packaging or label changes. As LA Foods grew, it developed strong relationships with correctional facilities, schools, hospitals and other governmental institutions throughout the United States. The customer base for LA Foods has since expanded to include mass feeders, thrift stores, food banks, variety stores, “mom and pop” retailers, food processors, smorgasbords and swap meets. In 1992, LA Foods developed a sales division that concentrated exclusively on liquidating product packaged for retail sale. The retail division has expended rapidly and now includes sales in frozen and dry foods, health and beauty aids, household goods and other general merchandise items. The company’s vendors include many of the largest manufacturers in the world.

LA Foods purchases retail-sized food and non-food items and sells them to specialty retail outlets such as deep discount stores, thrift stores, “mom & pop” retailers and price-point stores, i.e. 99c or $1.00. Due to large volume purchases and our agreement to restricted distribution, LA Foods purchases food at substantial discounts. These discounts are then passed on to our specialty retailers. Whether you are looking for food items (frozen, canned or dry), non-food items such as health and beauty aids or household goods, LA Foods can become a major supplier for your retail operation. LA Foods regularly purchases truckload quantities of individual products. Some of these products include close coded and/or time sensitive purchases. But all these purchases offer our customers an opportunity to benefit from our volume-buying savings. In many cases, the products are national or store brands. In order cases, they are private label products. In either case, LA Foods only offers the highest quality products at the best competitive prices. However, due to significant manufacturer-imposed restrictions, we can only offer our goods to accounts which meet specific criteria.

Why is LA Foods pricing better than other wholesalers? The answer is simple: Because our distribution is concentrated on customers in markets that are not typically within the manufacturer’s target audience. Our markets include prisons, schools, hospitals, local, state and federal governments, food banks, deep-discount thrift stores and other non-traditional outlets that are not brand-oriented. The manufacturers we work with are willing to sharply reduce their pricing to us knowing that the product they sell us will not end up competing against their brand in their primary marketplace. Factories often have significant extra capacity in off seasons. We take advantage of this down time to make great food deals that we can pass along to our customers. Our customers can count on us for tremendous value and superior service.
