Founded in 1964, SCORE is headquartered in Herndon, VA and has 364 chapters throughout the United States and its territories, with over 13,000 volunteers nationwide. The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce internship experience is designed to provide the student with real world experience in a hands-on environment. The intern will have the opportunity to attend Chamber functions and learn the intricacies of networking in a professional environment while honing specific career skills. This is an unpaid position, designed to qualify for school credit while providing a unique opportunity for real business experience in a fast-paced and fun environment.
Sharon Decker was appointed Commerce Secretary by Governor Pat McCrory in 2013 and brings more than 30 years of experience in business and commerce to the position. After graduating summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Decker spent more than 17 years with Duke Power Company, now Duke Energy. She began with the company in consumer services and moved rapidly through the ranks to become the youngest and first female vice president in Duke Power's history.
The Chamber will host a candidate forum in Davidson and Huntersville next week. A forum was held in Cornelius October 1st. The two-hour forum will be held at the respective town halls. The forum for Davidson is Tuesday, October 15th and Huntersville, Thursday Oct 17th. All forums are 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The events are moderated by Jerry Hancock, General Partner of Alexander Hancock Associates. Hancock is well known in Charlotte as a guest commentator on "All Things Considered," National Public Radio, and the publishing of numerous journal articles.
The Corporate Learning Center strives to understand the specific needs of your business, including whether you want to utilize needs assessment tools. They will then customize the training and give you the option of having the training delivered at your site or at their state-of-the-art Corporate Training and Conference Center at CPCC's Harris Campus.
