Description

President Howard Sargeant foundedLakes Gas Co. in 1959. While working for a major oil company, he searched for an independent oil business, and ultimately ended up buying the Harguth Oil Company, a gasoline-propane retail operation in Forest Lake. Over the next 47 years, Howard used his expertise in the area of acquisitions to grow and expand his business. Today, Lakes Gas Co. is the 12 th largest retail marketer of propane in the United States, with 43 outlets in five states.
