One of the joys which my job has provided to me for over 27 years is the constant reminder of how lucky I am. Leaky roofs, frozen pipes, wet socks, and delayed Metra trains are one thing.

Lakeview Pantry strives to provide an environment that promotes community, purpose, health and stability. To accomplish this, we often host other community service providers during our food distribution hours to provide a variety of helpful services. Groups such as the Citizen’s Utility Board, the Chicago Public Library, Chicago House, the Legal Assistance Foundation and the Chicago Health Corps have provided valuable information and services. We also have weekly community nights on Wednesdays which involve groups such as Book Club, Movie Night and Food Tasting and Nutrition Hour.

In a recent survey we conducted, 98% of clients said they are happy with the food and service they receive at Lakeview Pantry. Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to offering high quality service and customer care to our clients.

How do volunteers help LVP? Volunteers at Lakeview Pantry are scheduled to help with three main programs, East site distribution, West site distribution, and Home Delivery. During these shifts, volunteers perform a variety of tasks, but all revolve around our mission to provide emergency food relief to the Lakeview community.

Each month we provide a 10 to 14 day supply of food to over 1,200 individuals through 3,800 client visits.
