Description

Every month, we like to write a "Green Report" about an issue that's important to our fair planet - usually we take a look at what fun, funky stuff we can find on the internet. (Want to get 'em emailed to you? Sign up for our Bean Plant Banter ). Ever wanted to know about the right way to cook a cabbage ? Rob Hopkins of Transition Culture gets a lesson from history. -December 08: Marketing guru Jerry Stifelman is one of Larry's closest partners in crime. In his latest guest post for TreeHugger he explores how green branding and marketing might apply to those giant corporations - many of whom really are trying (really!) to go green. -November 08: Got a pool? Want to heat your pool with the sun ? Some people think giant lenses may help - but there's a simpler answer. Larry accomplice Sami Grover get's to the bottom of the mystery over at TreeHugger. -October 08: Mmmm, green beer. And it's not even St Patrick's Day - just a round-up of organic ales courtesy of the good folks at Grist. -September 08: Not a big fan of gas guzzling lawn mowers? Maybe it's time to rent a goat ... -August 08: We all know that driving less saves gas, but howabout driving better. Sami Grover looks at Micro-hypermiling - the idea that paying attention to your daily commute can save you gas , and $ too. -July 08: Fish may be tasty, but over-fishing aint so hot. We explore some options for a more sustainable approach to seafood . -June 08: As we launch our much anticipated biodegradable packaging, we take a look at the Great Pacific Garbage Patch to remind ourselves why this matters. -April 08: In honor of up-coming Bike to Work Week, we take a look at some reasons to get pedalling and ways to stay safe while doing it . Saving the world is a full-time job! Our Green Reports had to take a back seat for a while, but they're on their way back... and boy they're gonna be good... We take a look at the travesty that is mountaintop removal . -October 07: The drought got us thinking about water, and how we can all use it more wisely . -August 07: August had us wondering at the amazing amount of plastic bags in the world , and questioning why Rwanda has banned the things while we have not. -July 07: This month we were thinking REALLY green, so we not only looked at the commercial meat industry , but we rounded off by taking a stab at bottled water too. -June 07: 2% may not seem like a big number, but it may just hold the solution to climate change. -May 07: Charity's fine, but Fair Trade takes doing good to a whole new level . -April 07: Spring is in the air, with that familiar smell of decomposing biomass. That's right, its compost time . To learn even more about making the world better, learn up at SustainabilitySchool.org .
