Amy Woodward, M.C.D., C.C.C., joined our practice in 1998. Amy received her B.S. from Delta State University in 1996 and her M.C.D. from Auburn University in 1998. In our practice, Amy has gained experience working with children with a variety of speech/language disorders with emphasis in the area of stuttering.

Stephanie Alman, M.S., CF-SLP, Speech Languange Pathologist, joined Laskin Therapy Group in July 2013, and is currentely completing her Clinical Fellowship. She received her B.S. in Communications Disorders and Deaf Education from Utah State University in May of 2011 and her M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from The University of Mississippi in May, 2013. Stephanie completed extensive practicum work during graduate school working with pediatrics and adults. She also has experience working with children with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices, hearing impairments, sign language, fluency disorders and speech-language delays.

Vanessa has experience working with children with a wide variety of disorders including speech and language delays, Autism and Down syndrome. In addition to working with Laskin Therapy Group, Vanessa works as a preschool speech-language pathologist with the Madison County School District. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Vanessa enjoys spending time with her two daughters, Sarah and Meredith.

The primary goals of dysphagia therapy are to promote adequate nutrition/hydration and develop age-appropriate feeding/swallowing skills. Therapy is customized to meet the individual needs of each child. To ensure adequate training, therapists work closely with the child's caregivers to provide education for the development of the child within his or her family system. Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMD) , or tongue thrust, is a problem where the tip of the tongue protrudes against or between the front teeth or the middle of the tongue bulges too forcefully against the side teeth during swallowing or when at rest, The result of these atypical swallowing patterns can be speech sound disorders, malocclusion, mouth breathing, and/or tempo-mandibular joint dysfunction/pain. The experienced therapists at LTG utilize techniques designed to correct tongue placement during speech, swallowing and when at rest, along with exercises to develop correct lip posture. Feeding Aversions: Children with feeding aversions often limit their diets to a small variety of foods. They often refuse food that is not in their diet or gag when they do try it.

She has experience in treating a variety of diagnoses including Down syndrome, Autism, sensory processing disorder, genetic disorders, developmental delay, and ADHD. She is a member of the Mississippi Occupational Therapy Association and is currently working on her board certification in pediatrics. During her spare time, Jamie enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, reading, and traveling.
