By Laura Catoe Times Staff Writer Mark your calendars for the zombie apocalypse — or a festive trial run, at the very least. Gadsden's sixth annual Zombie Parade will be Saturday. The free event begins with a zombie meet-and-greet at 4 p.m., followed at 4:30 p.m. by a walking tour of Broad and Chestnut streets. Paradegoers will gather in the parking lot behind the Pitman Theatre. Zombie makeup is not mandatory to participate in the parade, but “festive attire” is encouraged. All ages (and canines) are welcome. The parade will conclude in time for its participants to head over to Premiere Cinema 16's free 7:30 p.m. showing of the 1968 classic “Night of the Living Dead.” Tickets now are available. “The Gadsden Zombie Parade is gaining momentum,” Ada Woodard, director of Premiere Cinema 16, said. “When we decided to show ‘Night of the Living Dead' free of charge, I thought it would be cool to tie in with other zombie events going on in Gadsden this month.” Read the rest at the Times I am pro-zombie parade. I am anti-dousing myself (or my children) in fake blood. I mean, chances are, it wouldn't scar them for life, but I err on the side of caution on this one. So I plan to haul the fam out for the 6th annual Zombie Parade. But we might not even be in festive attire. I know. I want to be, but getting four people gussied up when two of those people are wily coyotes... it may not happen. Last year, I was Death (of the Neil Gaiman Sandman variety) and Kris was a Zombino's delivery guy. 2008 we took Ben along in his bones tee, Kris was a run-over race car zombie and I was... who knows. I wore the corset Sharon made for me, a witch hat Patti gave me and a mask from the variety store.
