My legal career began as an Estate Tax Attorney with the Internal Revenue Service, fresh out of law school in 1985. There I audited hundreds of estate and gift tax returns and uncovered millions of dollars of unreported taxes. My primary responsibility with the IRS was the audit of estate tax returns. However, I was also involved with classification of returns (to determine which returns should be audited), their appeal to the IRS Appeals Division, their trial before the Tax Court and the final collection of the tax. With this background, I resigned from the IRS in 1994 in order to open a private law practice in Grapevine, Texas.Today, the vast majority of my practice consists of estate planning and probate, including the preparation of wills and trusts, organization of tax-planned business entities, administration of estates, and preparation of estate and gift tax returns.You're not sure what "Board Certified" means? Board Certification has many requirements, including a devotion of a substantial amount of their practice to the field, specialized continuing education and rigorous testing.
