Applications for prestigious graduate and professional schools continue to increase and the admissions staff of Law, Medical and Graduate Schools use the LSAT, MCAT and GRE as a first approximation to reduce the inspection of transcripts and references. For any student wishing to attend his/her school of choice, that hurdle must be overcome. Scoring well on the graduate admissions test does not require hardware, software, gimmicks or gadgets; what is needed is an understanding of the problem solving techniques and strategies that are a constant of the tests. The GRE is only a step up from the SAT, with the addition of a logic game section; the LSAT is a test of logical reasoning, whether logic games, analogous argument recognition, or awareness of premises (implicit or explicit) and assumptions in a discussion; the MCAT is much more an achievement test, assuming knowledge of college level Biological and Physical Sciences, and an ability to read and reason in the Sciences, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts. Learning Skills-Correct Read has developed a short, cost-effective test preparation program that applies the techniques of reading efficiency and analysis to the reading selections of these tests, and acquaints the student with the problem solving strategies for the logic games, as well as reviewing the basic mathematical relationships of arithmetic, geometry, and algebra for the Math component of the GRE. Scoring strategies, as well as multiple- choice test taking strategies, are explained and applied. The workshop format allows for explanations and the immediate application to sample questions types; no homework or extra time is required beyond that which any student may wish to volunteer.
