Legacy Research is a woman-owned cultural resource consulting firm located in Durham, North Carolina. The company has over 14 years of experience helping clients comply with state and federal legislation that protects significant cultural resources. Deborah Joy is the owner and Principal Investigator of Legacy Research. She is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) and has an MA from Duke University that focused on Native American studies.

Legacy Research provides a team of highly qualified and experienced archaeologists and historians who specialize in identifying and evaluating historic and prehistoric sites. When needed, other specialists, such as architectural historians, geomorphologists, paleobotonists, and underwater archaeologists are subcontracted for their professional expertise. Recognized laboratories for radiocarbon dating and special analysis (lithic, ceramics, floral, faunal, and pollen) are utilized as needed.
