Patti Walter, Vice President — When I started in this industry in 1971, I was hired as the receptionist at a local title company. At that time the company was fairly small and my duties quickly grew to several other areas: recording clerk, title searcher (we did this “by hand” at the County Offices as we only had about 1 year on computer at that point), examiner, and title commitment typist. Then one day the president of the company asked me to “do a closing” — almost all real estate brokers did their own closings at that time, so this was new and exciting and, for a title company, somewhat uncharted territory. I’ve been doing closings ever since……every kind of closing imaginable. In 1996 I accepted a position as the manager of a large escrow department, which demanded a great deal of time; I found myself doing fewer closings. Creating Legacy Title is an incredible opportunity for me to partner with three dynamic, versatile, fun loving people: Linda Hinton, Matt Hall and Ashley Bush. We are finding that getting back to basics by truly caring about customers, striving to do a great job every time and treating everyone the way we would want to be treated, make for a happy group of people all around. My father, Wortham Ashcroft, was a local home builder for 15 years. I began working for him at Ashcroft Homes in 1991. I was involved in many aspects of the business, mainly receptionist. As a result I came to know many people in the industry. One company I dealt with frequently was Stewart Title. Soon I was offered a position there as an assistant to a closer. I was an assistant for 4 years and during this time I conducted closings from time to time. So after 4 years I decided that closings were my passion. I went on to be a closer at Stewart for 9 years. I managed a large customer base that included developers, builders, lenders & residential as well as commercial realtors. In the summer of 2004 I was given the opportunity to start my own business with 3 other individuals whom I greatly respect & admire. Together as a team we bring a lot of different ideas to the table while maintaining a unified vision. E-mail: abush@legacytitle-llc.com Matt Hall, Vice President — I am almost a Colorado Springs native in that my family moved here in 1976 when I was six. I attended Doherty High School and my first job was at Hugh M. Woods. I was employed there for almost 10 years starting as the janitor and working my way up the ladder (so to speak). My last three years there I spent working with the builders and developers in the Contractor Sales Office. In 1995 I began my title insurance career at a local title company as a marketing representative and later helped develop and manage their Transaction Coordination department.
