My name is Martha and for over 30 years I have suffered from anxiety/panic disorder and depression. I took medications to mask my many symptoms because of a misdiagnosis and still suffered …so did my family. The medications I was taking caused me to have SEVERE constipation which also caused me to develop hemorrhoids. I was told to drink mass quantities of water and just sit on the toilet for a while. You cannot drink enough water when it’s that bad. I was on two over the counter drugs just to help me TRY to go…one of which I could only find at Offutt. It was very hard to explain to my family that I just couldn’t go – especially after being in the restroom for long periods of time. I also had Irritable Bowel Syndrome but couldn’t ‘go’…so I was just told to watch my diet. I initially was told that there was damage done from giving birth to my daughter. After several years, the Dr. finally told me that it was my medications causing it. I constantly felt lethargic and groggy. I used to feel ‘uncomfortable’ in my own skin. I knew the medications were slowing everything down in my body and were also messing up my digestive system.
