Lincoln Academy is an independent secondary school that serves as a public high school. Unlike public high schools, whose communities vote on an education budget that is recommended by their school committee and administrators each year, Lincoln Academy's tuition is determined by a State formula based on statewide secondary school expenditures over the past two years. In order to provide a high-quality and comprehensive program, the Academy supplements this tuition with income from the general endowment and contributions to the Annual Campaign (about $600 per student). The Annual Fund includes contributions that support general operations. This money is expended each year. The Annual Campaign includes the Annual Fund, plus money that is raised for specific purposes, such as special projects and endowment funds. Lincoln Academy is a 501 (c)3 not-for-profit organization; contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Since 1996, the Annual Campaign has raised more than $2,900,000.
