Every year on Comcast Cares Day, thousands of Comcast employees, their families and friends gather to make a positive impact in neighborhoods across the country. Comcast Cares Day began in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest single-day corporate volunteer efforts in the country. With this year’s effort included, Comcast employees, families and friends have now volunteered at more than 2,300 projects since Comcast Cares Day began and delivered nearly 1.4 million hours of service. And Little Angels is proud to have been included in this great event for two years running. On April 24, 140 volunteers from Comcast, Total Living Network and the Little Angels Family shared their time, talent and compassionate hard work to make a difference at Little Angels and the Developmental Training Center.Not only were chores like cleaning bedrooms, stripping wallpaper, detailing vehicles, planting flowers, moving furniture, making pillow cases and creating name tags undertaken, but Little Angels residents were also treated to extra TLC with a special spa room and fun games and activities with our volunteers. Comcast was well represented with many industrious employees, notably Allen Roscoe, Bill Conway, Lee Ann Talbot and Linda Alperin. Joining in this year’s event were hard working TLN volunteers including CEO and veteran TV personality Jerry Rose, wife and colleague Shirley Rose and Director of Cable Relations Shirley Hill. Mayor Ed Schock of Elgin also dropped in to help kick off the day. “We owe a debt of gratitude to Comcast and to all our volunteers that day,” states Shelley Lewis, Little Angels Administrator. “Not only did we get an amazing amount of work done, but our residents received extra special attention from all our visitors and loved every minute of it.
