From the Editor We'll miss you, Deborah Morgan! From the President ’s Palette is not running this month as she is resigned and moving to New York. The Board of Directors section has information on pro tem leadership. The newsletter has a few changes; the Calendar includes classes this time, instead of running them as separate entries. Hopefully, this will make it easier for people to keep track. Feedback is always welcome. Also, be sure to check out the Frequently Asked Questions under the gallery policies. Some of it clarifies standing policies, and it also deals with new procedures for non-hanging items. NEWS Small Works Invitation Planning Do you know when our next invitational art show will be? It ’s not in March, it ’s in November. It ’s our Invitational Small Works Show. Last year we got more than 180 entries. That ’s a lot of art. It takes a lot more preparation than our normal gallery show needs to pull it off. We will need a show manager to organize recruitment of artists, recruiting a judge, receiving the art and setting up the show. Our Spring Show had 293 entries that got displayed, to put it in perspective. Last year, a few people got swamped with work, the victims of a successful art recruiting effort. This year, if we start now, we have time to think through what to do and how to promote this special show. But, it is not something that can be put off until the month before the show. We need a chair and a show committee now! Think of this plea for planning to be another clarion call for an ongoing year-long marketing plan. Good events don ’t just happen on their own.
