Jennings, MD joined Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, (Long Beach, California), as Director of Pathology. As a pioneer in parentage testing, Dr. Jennings initiated the use of red cell antigen and serum protein/red cell enzyme testing, then “state-of-the art” technologies. Jeffrey Morris, MD, PhD, joined the parentage testing program at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in 1975 and became Director in 1978. Early in his administration, HLA technology was added to the test battery, and sophisticated computerized biostatistical evaluation methods were developed. In 1987, validation studies for RFLP-based DNA technology were initiated and, in 1989, a "DNA only" test battery was introduced.
