This nursing assistant training program is designed to prepare the student for helping care for residents in a health care facility, under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. Delivering health care is a very special job, one that every nursing assistant can take much pride in, and the training manual has been written to help each student do well in both training and on the job. A minimum of 85 hours of training will be presented. The nursing assistant student will not have any direct resident care contact until first completing all of the theory portion of training, which exceeds the minimum (16) training hours required by Washington State , and after first demonstrating competency in the basic nursing care skills areas prior to the clinical experience. Training will include classroom, lab and clinical hours. Classroom & lab attendance requirements will be for no less than 35 hours at the center location, and clinical attendance for no less than 50. There will be open enrollment throughout the year. Each student must plan on regular hours attendance to all class, lab and clinical training, as this is critical to the students success, as well as participation in discussions and demonstrations. In the event that a session is missed, and the student is a ‘no-call/no-show ’, the student can be withdrawn from the program until either arrangements are made by the student, or an appropriate refund is made because of no-contact by the student. Each potential student will have to complete a pre-registration quiz to assist the instructor in determining their ability to do basic math problems, and assess their ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language in order to register for the training program. In addition, the evaluation process during training will be by periodic written examinations, and successful completion of assignments. The other evaluation process will be by return-demonstration by the student for skills mastery. Upon successful completion of this program, a minimum cumulative percentage of 70% or greater, the student will receive a certificate for HIV/AIDS training and a DSHS Certificate of Completion, and will be eligible to submit application for the written and practical examinations for certification as a nursing assistant in Washington State , as well as the nursing assistant-certification application to the Department of Health. MEDPREP Vocational Training Center is located at 1830 Broadway, Everett , Washington. 98201 We have a lab practice room, with the necessary personal care supplies, to complete skills and to accommodate transferring and ambulating techniques. The television & VCR for viewing the training video ’s is in the classroom. Permanent student records will be kept on file for fifty years but achieved after two years. Copies of any file document for current and/or prior students (within the recent two years) will be made available within three business days. And, the school will have up to thirty days for retrieval from archives for any request made by a student having attended before the two prior years.
