Consultants are hired by companies to give them advice related to their business. There are consultants who work in every industry out there. Many companies hire consultants to help them assess business problems, issues or trends and look to the consultant to provide expert advice, analysis and solutions.
That being said, each position on a cruise ship will require different education and training. For example, an IT coordinator on a cruise ship should have a Bachelor's Degree in IT and/or work experience in a professional setting. A massage therapist or personal trainer should be certified. A cosmetologist needs to be licensed. A bartender, server or other hospitality worker should have previous industry experience. The education/training needed is no different than that that is needed for similar jobs outside a cruise ship. Some cruise ship workers take on multiple duties. Those who look for entry-level work on a cruise ship and then can back with education and/or experience in the department/segment they apply for will be the most desirable to cruise ship employers. Also, those who are bi-lingual or can speak multiple languages will be coveted by cruise ship employers.
Pharmacists play a key role in the American health care system and the jobs within this industry are growing fast and pay well. While the role of the pharmacist is to disperse drugs and medicine to its clientele, today's pharmacist plays a much greater role. They are often asked to provide advice and input on what prescription or over-the-counter drugs may be best for each individual case. Many pharmacists build long-term relationships with customers, and take on mini-counseling roles as the customer trusts them to help them with their prescription or over-the-counter medicine needs. Pharmacists work in a variety of locations, such as at the local pharmacy inside a store like a Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, grocery store or other retail outlet. They also work in hospitals and clinics.
If you are pursuing an Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's degree, one of the best ways to get experience in your field of study is through a student internship. And chances are, if you're going to college, a teacher, counselor, family member or friend has said it: You need to get an internship. Why? Internships help you gain valuable experience in the field of which you think you would like to possibly work after graduation. It allows you to see what it's really like to work in this career. It gets you away from a classroom environment and into a real-world situation. Internships help you apply what you've learned in your classes and expand on that. There is no replacement for on-the-job training. An internship introduces you to the workforce, company culture, new systems and processes, new co-workers and colleagues and a new environment. Multiple internships can be beneficial and internships in a variety of work environments and industries is also helpful. Sometimes internships can help persuade you to explore different career paths and internships before graduation are recommended to test and see if you really think you will like your career path of choice.
