Thanks to my dad, fishing has been a hobby of mine for a long time. The first fish I remember catching was a small perch from Dog Lake in Lake County, Oregon when I was 9 or 10. It was the only fish we caught that day and I insisted on keeping it. Dad took it home for me, cleaned it, cooked it, and then I wouldn't eat it because something about the way the meat looked "grossed me out". This rainbow is from Little Hart in Lake County, one of my all time favorite fishing spots. My favorite fish to catch is still the rainbow trout, and some of the best trout lakes are in Southern Oregon , where I still get to fish with my dad on special occasions. Since moving to Pendleton, Oregon in late 1999, I haven't had much of a chance to go fishing. My neighbors, Kenny & Kathy, have had mercy on me a couple of times and taken me with them. Much to Kenny's dismay (?) I outfished him on almost all occasions. My secret? An ol' nightcrawler. His? Powerbait. At Kinny Lake in Wallowa County, OR. A nice day fishing at Morgan Lake outside of LaGrande, OR. Again, I was using worms, Kenny powerbait. This is the result of my first salmon fishing venture while on vacation in the San Juan Islands, Washington. Our charter was Trophey Charters run by Captain Monty. Pictured L-R: Chrissy, me, Tasha, John and Captain Monty. We caught mostly pinks with a couple of silvers and a sockeye thrown in for good measure. All ranged between 6 and 12 pounds.
