The MORIC Model Schools Team, teachers and administrators are exploring ways in which technology will help them "focus on effectiveness" in our schools to promote deeper learning. The 2006 Summer Institute that runs July 26-27th will feature presentations by local teachers and technology leaders that show practical solutions to this essential problem. If you are interested in attending, please contact your site administrator.In January 2006, the RIC piloted a district-based regents scanning service with the South Lewis Central School District. Through this service, students recorded their answers on specially designed (SED approved) answer sheets that were scanned into images, verified and placed into a database where part scores were combined for a total/scale score. Reports were then run from the database, reflecting item analysis in conjunction with student, teacher, and building performance analysis.This district-based service allows districts the capability of providing a fast-score for multiple choice questions, eliminating turnaround time for data collection, correction, and reporting. Districts have the capability of printing, scanning, verifying, scoring and reporting the regents data, while the RIC provides support and backup services.
