Mahaffey Orthotics & Prosthetics was founded in 1997 and is locally owned and operated by Cliff Mahaffey. His experience in the field of orthotics and prosthetics spans over 21 years. He is certified in both disciplines by the American Board of Certification (ABC) and the Board of Orthotics and Prosthetic Certification (BOC) and holds a Texas state license. He established Mahaffey Orthotics & Prosthetics to provide a more personal level of patient care for the community.

Cliff was born and raised here in the panhandle near Lubbock, Texas. He is licensed by the State of Texas in Orthotics/prosthetics, Certified by the American Board of Orthotic and Prosthetic Certification and by the Board for Orthotic and Prosthetic Certification. He has been in this field since 1987. He branched off and began his own business here in Amarillo in 1990. His passion is in the challenge of meeting the needs of even the most difficult of situations.

Gene was born in Lamesa, Texas and graduated from Borden County High School in 1977. It was in 1988 that Gene’s life changed forever. He was involved in a motorcycle accident that took his leg and he became a below knee amputee. His passion to build prosthetics ignited during the process of having his new prosthetic built. His career began in 1992 as a prosthetic tech in Beaumont, Texas. In 1994, he took a position with Lubbock Orthotics and Prosthetics. After 12 years in Lubbock, he accepted a position with Mahaffey and moved to Amarillo.
