History Masque Sound comes from a rich tradition, from its founding in 1936 through the present. Masque Sound was started by three Broadway stagehands. They purchased a small record label and began to produce sound effects records and rent sound equipment for Broadway shows. The business soon expanded beyond rental and effects records and toward providing complete audio systems for live entertainment. In the early fifties, Masque Sound became the first company to adopt tape technology for the theater.
