Douglas A. Doerfler joined MaxCyte as its founding President and CEO in June 1999 and has served as a director since December 1999. Prior to joining MaxCyte, he held senior corporate development and operating responsibilities for PFRM, Inc., a privately owned biotechnology holding company (Novagen, Pel-Freez Clinical Systems, and Pel-Freez Biological). From May 1994 until May 1996 he was President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Immunicon Corporation, a cell-based therapy and diagnostics company. From 1981 until 1994, Mr. Doerfler held various executive positions with Life Technologies Inc. and its predecessor company, Bethesda Research Laboratories. At Life Technologies, Mr. Doerfler was Director of Corporate Development and World Wide Director of Instrumentation and Apparatus responsible for the company's global sequencing and separation business, including electroporation. Mr. Doerfler received his B.S. in Finance from the University of Baltimore School of Business and a certificate in Industrial Relations. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Emerging Company Section Board of Governors at the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO).Dr. Joseph C. Fratantoni serves as Vice President of Clinical Development and Medical Affairs and is MaxCyte's Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Fratantoni has extensive experience in hematology and transfusion medicine, including eight years at NIH, 18 years at FDA and, most recently, three years at the Maryland consulting firm C.L. McIntosh and Associates where he was Vice President, Biologics. At FDA, Dr. Fratantoni was the Director of the Division of Hematology at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) where his areas of responsibility included research and review of cellular blood components for transfusion, plasma derivatives, cell separators, coagulation products and blood substitutes, and a number of blood-related biotechnology products and issues. His research contributions included new approaches to laboratory evaluation of platelets and studies on viral inactivation of cellular components. Dr. Fratantoni has maintained an involvement in medical teaching and patient care throughout his career and holds an appointment as Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University. He earned an M.D. from Cornell University Medical College, an A.M. in chemistry from Harvard University, and a B.S. in chemistry from Fordham College.Madhusudan V. Peshwa, Ph.D., currently serves as Vice President, Research and Development at MaxCyte, Inc. Most recently, he was Executive Vice President for Research and Development at NewNeural LLC, a start-up stem cell therapy company. Earlier he served as Vice President of Manufacturing and as Vice President of Process Sciences at Dendreon Corporation (NASDAQ: DNDN), where we was responsible for development, characterization and manufacture of an autologous dendritic cell vaccine product from concept to late Phase III pivotal studies. His expertise is in the areas of design, characterization, scale-up and implementation of processes, and cGMP systems in the development of engineered cell and tissue products and for biopharmaceuticals' production.
