Oakmont Village is an active retirement community for adults 55+ within the city of Santa Rosa in Sonoma County, California's Wine Country. Founded in 1964, Oakmont Village has approximately 3100 homes and about 5,000 residents. There are eight tennis courts, three pools and two golf courses. The West golf course is a par 72, the East golf course is an Executive par 63. Our listings make it easy to find a golf property that is right for you. The wine country is famous for hot air ballooning, spas and river sports. Famous Santa Rosa residents include cartoonist Charles Schulz (his museum is here) and botanist Luther Burbank (his house and gardens are here) in this historic city founded in 1868. Wells Fargo Center for the Arts attracts top-name entertainment throughout the year. Theatre and music are active and the area boasts a rich cultural life. Oakmont's three recreation centers The Central recreation center has the main auditorium with a kitchen for parties, dances and large meetings. The updated fitness center has showers and saunas, state-of-the-art cardiovascular, strength training and flexibility programs, and the largest of the three pools. Also: large pool (children allowed) and jacuzzi, lawn bowling, putting green, horse shoes, shuffle board, community computer center and classes, card room and card clubs, ceramics and art classes. Central's environment is spacious with views of the surrounding hills and the golf course. West recreation area has a lap pool and jacuzzi, four tennis courts, and bocce ball. The West Activities building has kitchen facilities, billiard room, sauna, showers, and a picnic area with gas barbeques.
