McGee Pest Control was founded in February of 1962 when Ocie McGee bought the Hopkinsville route from Mack Pest Control. He began with himself as his only technician and his wife Melanie as his secretary and accountant. After a few years McGee Pest Control started to become more well known and grow into a major company. McGee Pest Control is now a company with about fifty employees that now offers more services such as bird control, weed control, mosquito control, and even carpentry. What was once one man's means of supporting his family is now one of the largest companies in Hopkinsville. Now running McGee Pest Control are Ocies' two sons Mark and Rick, who took over the company after the loss of their wonderful father in 2002 to leukemia. Mark and Rick both continue their fathers legacy with Mark running the Hopkinsville office and Rick running the Murray office. Many of the employees who work at McGee Pest Control do not know the story of how it came to be what it is now, but the few that do know will make sure that the story is never forgotten. I am one of the employees who does not know the entire story, but I did know Ocie and know that he put his heart and soul into his company as his sons do now.
