MechSim is an S-Corporation formed in May of 1998 out of a vision to provide client-focused, mechanical system simulation consulting services. MechSim's founder gained valuable experience working with a team of engineers at the US Army Transportation Engineering Agency (SDDC-TEA) to develop a "virtual proving ground" for transportation testing of military vehicles. These simulations proved effective in many ways; from conveying the significance of a design problem, to analysis and recommendation of design alternatives, to reduction in physical test requirements.MechSim utilizes a flexible staffing approach, consisting of a Principal Consultant, a Company Advisor, and a network of Subject Matter Experts. MechSim manages projects and matches experts to the individual project needs for a very focused, effective approach. Using this approach, MechSim can handle a wide range of projects while maintaining low overhead costs.Engineering models are tools that help us find better solutions faster. They are not a replacement for experience, engineering judgment, and expertise. The advent of powerful modeling software and personal computer workstations allows us to replicate real-world behavior in much greater detail than previously possible. We can now design and evaluate many different concepts prior to fabrication and testing. The result, when properly applied, is reduced development time and costs .
