MedHelp was founded in 1981 as the first Urgent Care/Family Practice in Birmingham. Open 7 days a week with convenient hours and no appointments needed... we are dedicated to providing the best possible health care with the least amount of hassle and wasted time.

Dr. Folmar earned his Medical Degree and completed his Residency in Internal Medicine from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Folmar practiced at Simon-Williamson Clinic in Birmingham for over 29 years where he served in multiple positions including President.. After a successful career with Simon-Williamson, Dr. Folmar practiced rural medicine in Brundidge, Alabama with Pike Internal Medicine for 5 years. Dr. Folmar has now returned to Birmingham and is working at MedHelp Lakeshore. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and is accepting new patients.

MedHelp was founded in 1981 as the first Urgent Care for Birmingham, Alabama and the surrounding areas. Our goal is to treat our patients as we would like to be treated with thoroughness and efficiency. We offer appointments for your convenience, but our patients are welcome to be seen on a walk in/urgent care basis for sinus infections, earaches, urinary tract infections, colds, coughs, rashes, sprains, and other simple medical problems. We strive to see all walk in/urgent care patients in a timely and efficient manner.

MedHelp has a state-of-the-art medical records system, which enables us to provide the latest technology for our patients. We have digital X-ray equipment that gives high resolution images for our providers to interpret. Our in-house lab has a full-time lab director and is fully CLIA certified.
