Established in 1985 by Ken Meigs in Black Earth, Meigs Building Specialists has built hundreds of buildings and homes in Wisconsin, winning many local and national awards. Ken Meigs is a lifelong resident of Black Earth. A historic village of nearly 1300, on the banks of Black Earth Creek, a world class trout stream in central western Dane County. Meigs Design Center and Office is located on Hwy 14 on the west edge of Black Earth, surrounded by scenic bluffs. Most recently, Meigs won the National Frame Builders Association’s 2008 Building of the Year in the Agricultural Workshops category for a farm/nursery shop and office building in Fitchburg. NFBA, just three years earlier awarded the 2005 Unique Commercial Building of the Year to Meigs for a retail building at a water park in Wisconsin Dells. Meigs has many repeat customers and new customers they design and build for each year.
