Mercury Wireless was founded in September 2007 after seeing a lack of adequate Internet service options available to rural Northeast Kansas communities.

In January 2011 we decided to begin migrating our network from Motorola Canopy to 4G WiMAX. The WiMAX technology would allow us to provide faster speeds as well as other services such a VoIP. PureWave networks was selected as our new WiMAX Base Station manufacturer due to the performance of their products and the level of support given after testing with multiple other WiMAX products.
