Metro Contracting was founded by Anthony (Tony) L. Wood in 1997 in order to pursue commercial and governmental plumbing and mechanical opportunities. Tony left Jones & Wood Incorporated after more than 20 years experience at the firm. His dream was and still is to build the highest quality service provider in the plumbing and mechanical field. Since it's inception Metro has grown into a full service plumbing and mechanical contractor with an average contract value of $300,000. In 2005 Tony partnered with Opvest Partners, LLC. Opvest has financial and management resources that will allow Metro Contracting to grow even further by taking on larger and more complex projects. Anthony (Tony) L. Wood, President Anthony brings over 20 years of experience to his role as President of Metro Contracting. Prior to founding the company, Tony was employed by Jones & Wood, Incorporated, a Washington, D.C. based plumbing and HVAC contractor. While at Jones & Wood Tony managed jobs in excess of $3,000,000 while managing 50 or more people on site. Tony rose to the rank of Vice President at Jones & Wood prior to deciding to break out on his own to build Metro Contracting. Tony pursued a degree in Business Management at Frostburg State College and holds a Maryland State license in waste disposal systems. Donald (Tom) Hadden, Vice President, Outside Operations Tom Hadden has 50 years experience in the plumbing industry. He started as a helper with JR Crockett Plumbing in 1954 and has held numerous roles at plumbing contractors over the years including owning and operating his own plumbing firm for over 20 years. Tom has managed jobs in excess of $2,000,000 with more than 80 plumbers under his direct supervision. It's estimated that Tom has plumbed over 8,000 homes in Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties. Tom holds a master plumber's license in Washington, D.C. and the State of Maryland. David L. Byrd, Manager, Supply & Distribution David has 13 years of experience in warehouse and supply chain management. David came to Metro Contracting from Wisenbaker Builder Services in Houston, Texas. At Wisenbaker David was responsible for flooring and counter installation quality control and field personnel throughout the metropolitan Houston area. Prior to Wisenbaker David was with Haco Corporation where he managed the North American parts department. David has also owned and managed a residential flooring provider. David runs supply and distribution for all of the firms in the Opvest Partners construction service portfolio.
