The Metropolitan Energy Center announces a funding opportunity for a grant project based upon work supported by the Department of Energy under Award Number DE-EE0002538, which enables activities of the Clean Cities Transportation Sector Petroleum Reduction Technologies Program and is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This opportunity is open ONLY to entities operating in Kansas, western Missouri, and southeastern Nebraska. Metropolitan Energy Center (MEC) and Kansas City Regional Clean Cities Coalition (KCRCCC) are pleased to announce a funding opportunity (FOA) for the Midwest Region Alternative Fuels Project (the Project). MEC is seeking applications for projects covering a range of commercial technology deployment activities under the Clean Cities Transportation Sector Petroleum Reduction Technologies Program and requires that all projects included in this partnership improve air quality, create jobs, and decrease dependence on petroleum by increasing the use of alternative fuels and advanced technologies. The 2010 Midwest Region Alternative Fuels Project FOA is due to revisions in Project plans by some partners awarded funding in the original budget in 2009. Through this FOA, new partners are able to join the Project. The total federal funding available under this FOA is expected to exceed $500,000. This funding is being offered for cost-shared projects that expand the use of alternative fueled vehicles and advanced technology vehicles. The installation or acquisition of infrastructure necessary to directly support an alternative fueled vehicle or advanced technology vehicle is also eligible. Operation and maintenance of vehicles, infrastructure and other associated equipment acquired through the program are also allowable within specified limits. Applications may request between $10,000 and $250,000 federal support. A minimum 50% cost share from non-federal sources is required for each application, subject to eligibility and cost sharing requirements. MEC expects to select 2 to 5 applications to fund.
