In the 1970s I began recording and releasing my music on cassette and LP, and working with my friend Craig Huxley scoring films. In those early years, my solo music wound up in productions for Laserium, NASA and choreographed to by the Berkshire Ballet. Then in 1984 I scored the IMAX film “Chronos”. This led to the creation of my own production company, with a focus on producing soundtracks for large format films and themed attractions. My studio was set up for scoring, producing and mixing films in multi channel surround.

Michael Stearns is a film composer, ambient music composer, sound designer and soundtrack producer for large format films, theatrical films, documentaries, commercials and themed attractions. His award winning scores to Ron Fricke’s non-verbal global film masterpieces “Chronos” and “Baraka” have played to audiences around the world.
