Michigan Log Homes is a company owned and operated by the builder. Charlie Wagner and his craftsmen work to construct the most unique log homes. Our mill is located in Northern Michigan where the richest stands of Northern White Cedar grows. For centuries builders have been choosing cedar because of its strength, durability, and beauty. It has the highest insulating value of all woods, as well as being resistant to insects and decay. Cedar is the finest building material nature has to offer! Our craftsmen cut the trees and hand peel the logs. The logs are milled flat to allow the log sealant and lag screw system to laminate the logs together. The corners are left in their natural round state. During construction, each log is planed for water edges, and the corners are all hand scribed by our craftsmen. We are not a machine log home company! Charlie, the art major, extends his art talent through logs. From Charlie ’s distinctive handcrafted cross corners, handcrafted staircases, custom built fireplaces, or the way he utilizes arched logs, to Charlie, each home is one of a kind! At Michigan Log Homes we have a unique philosophy. We don ’t just deliver a pile of logs – we build your dream home. While most companies avoid the construction of their own product, we take a great deal of pride in our quality and craftsmanship. Michigan Log Homes can construct your home as a close-in (or rough-in), or we can act as a general contractor and build your home from the foundation up. We can custom finish the interior for you, or you can do the finish work yourself. Either way, we strive to make sure your log home is of the finest quality. As a home owner, you will have choices with us. Options include: 1. Logs Only ( we construct full logs to 8 ’ level) 2. Home Owner Participation (you can pick and choose areas where you would like to work with the crew) 3. Turn Key (we do all the construction work, work with subcontractors, etc.)
