Description

76 in Hawaii The 76 brand, originally owned by Union Oil of California (UNOCAL), has been in Hawaii for nearly 90 years. With no refineries to produce gasoline, UNOCAL originally shipped gasoline into the islands from California. UNOCAL would later build a terminal in Iwilei for storing large quantities of gasoline, allowing UNOCAL to continue building (and supplying) new stores in Hawaii. During its heyday, UNOCAL owned approximately niney 76 gas stations throughout the islands. However, when property values skyrocketed during the 80's, the company sold many of the stations. In 1997, Tosco purchased all of UNOCAL's assets in Hawaii, including its Kawaihae and Honolulu terminals and its trucking operations. Soon after, in 2001, Phillips purchased all of these assets from Tosco. In 2002, Phillips merged with Conoco to form what is now Conoco-Phillips. Mid Pac Petroleum, LLC, founded by K1-Ventures in 2004, purchased Conoco-Phillips' assets in Hawaii, with the exception of the Honolulu Terminal. Under new direction, we began giving our 76 gas stations a much needed facelift. You may have noticed the vibrant colors and brighter lights associated with our new look. In September of 2007, Hawaii-based company Koko'oha Investments, Incorporated purchased Mid Pac Petroleum, LLC. We look forward to the opportunities that being owned by a local company will provide us. Thank you for your continued patronage. We proudly carry the 76 brand, we proudly serve Hawaii, and we look forward to serving you for years to come.
