Description
Midrox was chartered on May 26, 1939 by Chauncey F. Morse and his son, Harrison C. Morse. The company was then known as the Midrox Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company. Shortly after World War II, Lindon B. Morse, another son of Chauncey Morse, became involved in the insurance business. During the course of the next several years, up to the present, Midrox merged with several other similar but smaller companies, retaining the name of Midrox, which is shortened from Middletown-Roxbury Co- Operative Fire Insurance Company. In July of 1987, two of the smaller companies in the office, the Delhi Insurance Co. and the Andes Mutual Fire Insurance Co. were merged with the Midrox Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company, and in June of 1988, the remaining company, the Bovina Co-Operative Fire Insurance Company merged. The surviving corporation became known as the Midrox Insurance Company.
