For a bit of fun, I ’ve compiled a list of all the cars I ’ve owned from my very first to current ... 1977 Vauxhall Chevette 1300 owned from 1986 - 1987 The Vauxhall was my first car which I got after passing my driving test. I think I paid around 300UKP (500 USD) for the car. I used the Chevette primarily to get to/from College. 1974 Morris Marina Super (don't read anything into the Super suffix!) owned from 1987 - 1988 The Morris Marina replaced the Vauxhall Chevette after it was sold for scrap. I used the Marina primarily to get to/from University. 1978 Renault 4 owned during 1988 The Renault 4 was a car my brother gave me when the Gearbox failed on the Marina. I used the Renault 4 primarily to get to/from University. It was a very strange car to drive with a gearshift which was part of the dashboard. 1979 Renault 5 Gordini owned from 1989 - 1990 I purchased the Renault 5 Gordini from a neighbor after the Morris Marina became un-repairable and was scrapped. The Gordini was a very quick car compared to my previous cars. The actual car I owned was originally purchased by a wealthy Lord who lived in London. 1987 Austin Montego 1.6HL owned from 1990 - 1993 After graduating from University of Hertfordshire I took a job with Micro Focus in Newbury, Berkshire which was around 75 miles from my parents home. I needed a more reliable car than the Renault 5 which was very unreliable. The Montego was very reliable for the 3 years I owned it and I covered around 80,000 miles in this car. 1989 Citroen BX 19 GTi 16-Valve owned from 1993 - 1995 I decided I wanted a car faster than the Montego and decided upon a Citroen BX. The BX had 160 Horsepower and a claimed top speed of 135MPH (which I managed to confirm on a few occasions!). The BX suffered from a very complex hydraulic suspension and braking system ... it went wrong on a few occasions. 1993 Rover 216 Cabriolet owned from 1995 - 2002 I traded the BX in for a Rover 216 Cabriolet. I went to a dealership to look at an entirely different car, but saw someone come back in the Rover after a test drive and my mind was made up. 1997 Vauxhall Vectra GLS owned from 1997 - 1998 I joined McDonnell Douglas Information Systems at a time when their company car scheme was undergoing review. I ended up driving several different new cars for about 12 months (including a Citroen Xantia, Renault Laguna and Ford Mondeo). The Vauxhall Vectra was a car I used for around 9 months. 1999 Ford Puma 1.7 owned during 1999 After joining PeopleSoft, I returned the company car and initially used the Rover 216 Cabriolet. In January 1999 I purchased my first ever new car the Ford Puma. This car was voted Car of the Year and Best Coupe by Top Gear magazine. 1999 Chevrolet Blazer owned from 1999 - 2000 When I transferred to the US on a 12 month assignment with PeopleSoft, I had a rental car for 12 months. I managed to get an upgrade from a mid-size car to an SUV for the duration of the rental. I had two Chevy Blazers during the 12 months. 2000 Volkswagen GTi VR6 owned from 2000 - 2006 When I transferred to the US on a permanent assignment with PeopleSoft I leased my own car.
