Description
October 2010, Bracknell, UK – Miles 33, a worldwide leader in publishing systems, showcased the GN4 Content Management Suite at IFRAexpo, demonstrating a strong commitment to the Tera user community after acquiring Tera in June. The GN4 suite of applications represents the next generation in multimedia content management systems. Designed for deployment in a cloud, GN4 users are as productive in a coffee shop twelve time zones away as they are in the newsroom. Whether working on a desktop PC or netbook, merely connecting to the Internet with a browser is sufficient to have the same facilities as any user working at the office desk. Built upon Tera's CMSA Content Management Services Architecture, GN4 was designed in anticipation of today's world rather than in reaction to it. GN4 is constructed of integral, rather than integrated, components on a single content store for both production and archive. Content ingestion complete with data and metadata validation, transformation and normalization is part of the same integral architecture, as is a multi-media archive. GN4 supports web-first workflows as well as design-driven and content-driven pagination. GN4’s customer-configurable article structure means that content is organized to support the today's fluid publishing environment. As new titles, websites, zones, content formats and presentation technologies come along, GN4 can be reconfigured by the customer to meet these changing needs. All of the elements of a story, no matter what medium, can be associated and then worked on together to keep the integrity of the piece. Web first, paper first, mobile device first, or all at once, GN4 supports all of these workflows with a sophisticated auditing ability to track who changed the content when. Highlights include: TARK4 a Digital Asset Management System TARK4 is the newest release of Tark, the Archiving and Digital Asset Management System developed by Tera, and remains the benchmark against which other archiving products are measured. Migrated to the CMSA Content Management Service Architecture, TARK4 provides capabilities that other systems strive for and fail to deliver. TARK4 natively supports all types of content including audio, video, text, graphics and others. Designed for use with third-party content management systems as well as Miles 33 products, TARK4 provides extensible support for future content formats. New metadata may be added at any time and is user-definable (for appropriately privileged users). When accessed through a browser, no additional code is loaded onto the user's computer. TARK4 is integral to, rather than integrated with, Tera's other CMSA products. All products share Tera's CMSA architecture and code set. With TARK4, GNPortal and GN4, the archive and production content store become one. Neither two searches nor searches that span both archive and production content are necessary to retrieve complete results. Aside from ease-of-use, low cost of ownership and a consistent user interface common across all products, TARK4, like all Tera products stands out because of its speed. Search results are returned fast.
