Description

These rehabilitation facilities serve medically fragile patients who require an intense level of physical, occupational and speech therapy in an inpatient hospital setting. DRG exempt IRFs are specially licensed and Medicare certified. This includes highly regulated and close monitoring by CMS. The prevailing goal for these patients is to return to the community at the highest level of independence. This is accomplished with an intensive treatment program including 3 hours of therapy a day and specialized rehabilitation nursing spanning a 12-14 day average length of stay.

"MileStone is our trusted partner in acute rehab. After being disappointed with another rehab management provider, MileStone has 'set the bar' for contract services in our health system. They demonstrate flexibility with their terms and have consistently served our best interests for over 7 years.

MileStone Healthcare brings years of experience in the post-acute environment to your organization. Employing a range of operational, financial, clinical and marketing specialists, our team offers the specific guidance and resources necessary to achieve desired and sustainable results.

Joining the MileStone team in 1991, Ms. Arment offers years of hospital operations experience in acute and post-acute environments. These healthcare settings include acute, behavioral health, sub-acute, and rehabilitation. Her operational strengths are creative problem-solving, financial analysis, and leadership mentoring in for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Carol completed her Bachelor Degree in Music Therapy at Ohio University, interning at University of Michigan Hospital. She received a Master of Healthcare Administration from Texas Woman’s University.

Behavioral Health units are specially designed and operated for adult and/or geriatric patients over 65 who require psychiatric treatment and, typically, medical or pharmacological intervention. These units are DRG exempt from Acute PPS and must comply with very specific CMS regulations to maintain exemption status. Length of stay for the geriatric psychiatric population is approximately 14 days to realize the full benefits of psychotropic medications and behavioral management of symptoms.
