Description

The Campus Center at South Puget Sound Community College involved a complete reconstruction of the existing building in which the existing steel was encapsulated by the new building perimeter, and left exposed to view as a part of the key design element of the new building. Mission Glass installed a wide variety of systems in multiple finishes on both the interior and exterior. Kawneer supplied the aluminum systems that included curtain walls, storefronts, entrance doors, and venting windows. We also installed continuous runs of Construction Specialties perforated sunshades along the second floor and a vertical suspended sunshade near the library. At several of the office spaces and at the first floor cafe we teamed up with Dorma USA to design and install all glass stacking partition walls that allow an entire glass wall to stack into a corner and provide wide open operating areas when needed. All of the glazing on this project was provided by Hartung and utilized Guardian SNX62/27 coatings on the exterior, along with decorative partition wall glazing at the interior spaces that allowed the installation of custom vinyl graphics overlooking the first floor.

What a view! The new Tioga Library renovation at the University of Washington Tacoma Campus provides a backdrop that can only be found in the Northwest, overlooking Commencement Bay to the east and lined by a silhouette of the Cascade Mountains. Installation included custom-painted full-height curtain wall systems along with windows and storefronts that made this a project that is sure to turn heads. Portions of the curtain wall were infilled with aluminum backpans to provide a seamless profile. The exterior cladding system also included a terra cotta tile system with varying tones to provide added interest. Glazing systems installed on the project included Kawneer 1600 Curtain Wall, 8225 Windows, and 6" Trifab, all set with Solarban60 low-e glazing. The interior also included an all-glass handrail system utilizing Blumcraft custom base shoe top rails.

With the success of the Poulsbo Medical Office Building, we were pleased to have another opportunity to work with Andersen Construction on the delivery of this new state-of-the-art Orthopaedic Hospital for the Harrison Medical Center. The project was a 3-story 54,000 square foot addition adjacent to the existing hospital which would provide orthopaedic services using cutting-edge technology and procedures. Glass systems utilized standard Kawneer Trifab thermally-improved storefronts to provide maximum daylighting, while still being an economic solution for the hospital's needs. PPG's Solarban60 Low-E glazing was also included to help deliver high thermal performance with readily available materials to help ensure the accelerated schedule could be achieved. Mission Glass' input was integral in insuring the storefront systems and break metal panels would seamlessly integrate across building materials and provide the aesthetic appeal the architect had designed. With a set of constantly-evolving construction documents, the electronic media we incorporate into all of our deliveries allowed us to stay on top of changes and make sure all of the owner's ideas were realized.
