About MoCoRunning.Com MoCoRunning.com was created in December 2005. The main objective of the site was twofold: - - MoCoRunning began as an idea during the 2005 cross country season. The site was modeled after many other existing track-related websites with the previously stated objectives in mind. During November and December, MoCoRunning was built and uploaded to the Catholic University web server. Word about the site was spread through the other Maryland running websites. MoCoRunning was recieved well among the high school athletes and coaches. It was continually improved throughout the 2006 winter and spring seasons. By the end of the 2006 outdoor track season, MoCoRunning had grown tremendously popular and was well-established as the internet home for Montgomery County track & field. The enthusiasm of the site's visitors spurred the overhaul of the raw html format of the site. During the summer of 2006, the site was moved from the university server to a new powerful server and the site was re-written using PHP scripting language and a MySQL database. The site and most of its features became fully dynamic. - About Kevin Milsted - Webmaster I am a 2003 graduate of Gaithersburg High School. I was a member of the Gaithersburg High track team for 4 years and the cross country team for 3 years. I began Mocorunning.com in my junior year of college while majoring in Mechanical Engineering and running cross country and track for Catholic University in Washington D.C. I graduated in May 2007. I currently live in Alexandria, Virginia and work as a performance engineer at the Potomac River Generating Station. - Mocorunning.com Features- - Articles - I take great pride in the articles published on this site. Articles are typically previews, recaps, or interviews - all of which are intended to inform the audience about local athletes, teams, and meets. Most articles are written by Kevin Milsted, but articles can be sent in by anyone at any time to be published. - Calendar - The MoCoRunng Calendar lists all of the meets that involve Montgomery County teams. Coaches can help make the Calendar more comprehensive by sending in their season schedule at the beginning of the season. - Results - All Results will be listed on the Results page once they have been recieved. Coaches can help make the Results page more complete by sending in results from any meet that they host. - Schools - Click on a school page to learn a great deal about any school in the county. Each school page is complete with general facts, coach bios, team rosters, team superfans, MoCoRunning athletes of the week, athletes to watch. -General Facts - The General information was taken off of each school's website. Missing information can be emailed to the webmaster. School "Records" and "Championships" will date back to 2006. -Coaches - All Coaches can add themselves to the database by filling out a simple form with some personal information to share with the audience. -Athletes to Watch - Athletes will automatically be added to their team's Athletes to Watch section when they achieve the MoCoRunning Athletes to Watch standards.
