About Dragon Wind Dragon Wind is the wind tower manufacturing subsidiary of The Modern Group. Dragon Wind was formed in 2006, and specializes in the precision manufacture of 30-100 meter wind towers and tower internals. Dragon Wind’s and Modern’s technical skills and manufacturing competencies are ideally suited to the product needs of the Wind Industry. As a relatively new participant in the Wind Industry, Dragon Wind is committed to proving our capabilities and earning your trust and business. Core Values Wind Tower Manufacturing Capabilities Dragon Wind’s primary tower manufacturing facility is located in Lamar, Colorado, in the heart of the wind development corridor. The facility is dedicated to the manufacture of rolled tubular wind towers and has been designed with the most streamlined and efficient manufacturing processes available in the industry. Lamar Colorado Tower Plant Facility Information Dedicated Tower Manufacturing Our in-house capabilities and state-of-the-art equipment includes; Faccin plate rolls with 2” x 120” capacity, Blastec 10’x50’ plate blasting system, Lincoln semi-automatic AC/DC tandem arc welding systems with laser guided seam tracking, dual head plasma and oxy-fuel burning systems. In addition, we are steel and coatings experts and have historically been among the largest industrial coatings users in North America and a buyer of over 150,000 tons of carbon steel annually. Our Lamar wind tower finish and coatings capabilities will be housed in a dedicated 95,000 sq ft facility which will include a 24’x120’ blast booth, 24’x120’ primer/baking booth, and a 24’x120’ finish paint booth. Quality Assurance and Control Programs Dragon Wind is dedicated to the precision manufacture of your wind towers. In order to ensure that every step of the manufacturing process and each tower section and component meet your specifications, we will customize a quality assurance and control program for your tower specifications. Tower Internals Tower internals are a critical component that complement the quality of the tower. Steel and aluminum internals customized to each customer’s requirements and produced at our factories is another core competency of Dragon Wind. Additional Tower Manufacturing Capabilities In addition to the extensive capabilities of our Lamar plant, Dragon Wind will also allocate plant capacity to wind projects in other regions by committing tower manufacturing capacity in plants owned by The Modern Group – Dragon Wind in California, Indiana and Texas.
