Tantalum & Niobium Molycorp Silmet AS has longstanding experience in niobium and tantalum processing. The assortment of products includes hydroxides, oxides, various grades of metal, metal hydrides and metal powders.

Molycorp Magnequench intends to be the preferred supplier of quality magnetic material, and a valued partner to our customers and the industry. Although we have no intention “to hide behind” our patents, we will make every effort to defend and enforce them. The rare earth-iron-boron (RE-FeB) composition was independently invented in 1982 by General Motors Corporation and Sumitomo Special Metals Co. Ltd. (SSMC).

In addition to high purity gallium, Molycorp manufactures gallium nitrate that is produced from 4N gallium. Primary gallium production takes place at our Stade, Germany facility. Secondary gallium production takes place at both of our Blanding, Utah and Peterborough, Canada operations.

Molycorp also manufactures a range of zirconium based engineered products. Zirconium can either be produced as a single element or combined with rare earths such as cerium and yttrium. The primary applications for the division’s zirconium products are automotive catalytic converters, glass, ceramics and electronics. Our ability to leverage our existing customer base greatly enhances the growth prospects for our zirconium business: many rare earth customers are potential zirconium customers.
