Monad Federal Credit Union

Description

Monad Federal Credit Union was organized and chartered May 31, 1955 by a group of individuals employed by the Northern Pacific Railway. They wanted a place to pool their savings so that they could lend it to each other at affordable rates. This was the original purpose of the credit union 45 years ago, and still is today. Our beginnings were humble; most business was transacted at the railroad or at the home of our volunteer Treasurer. As the credit union grew, we rented various locations in Pasco until we moved into our current location in May 1975. Our goal is to make our members financially independent by helping them learn to save and borrow prudently. Originally in 1955 we could only serve the employees of the Northern Pacific Railway. Now due to regulatory changes, we include several select employer groups in our field of membership. Our field of membership is not open to the entire community.
