year, having been founded in 1964 and begun serving the community in 1966 from its initial location in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. Since that time, the College has grown with the needs of the community, building its Central Campus in Blue Bell in 1972 and then opening the doors of the West Campus in Pottstown, in the fall of 1996. Along with these two campuses, the College offers distance learning opportunities as well as courses at various off-site locations, including the Willow Grove Naval Air Station and Lansdale. Supporting the College's mission to offer high quality, affordable, and accessible educational opportunities for community residents, the College is funded in equal parts by the County, the State, and student tuition and is locally sponsored by Montgomery County. The College is governed by a fifteen person Board of Trustees appointed by the Montgomery County Commissioners and is fully accredited by the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. About Our Students The College's traditional student is anything but traditional. Our students are as diverse as the communities we serve with nearly 20 percent of our student body comprised of ethnic and racial minorities, nearly 60 percent are female, and the average age of credit students being 27.With 57 percent* of our students attending the College part-time and of those, 32 percent* attending during the evening, we recognize that the ever-changing demands of the market require us to be able to meet the evolving needs of our local workforce. In that same vein, we also seek to provide an affordable, valuable start to a four-year degree through our growing number of transfer programs. As we strive to prepare our students to enter or re-enter either the workforce or an advanced degree program, our goal is to be a deep and valuable resource for the local community's growth and development. Because 93 percent* of credit students at the Central Campus and 81 percent * of West Campus Credit students are from Montgomery County, with the remaining 10 percent* from neighboring counties in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, the success of our students in and beyond their programs directly impacts the success of our local economy.
