The history of Morgan Memorial Hospital is a rich one. It is a story of vision and commitment. More importantly, it is a story of touching people's lives.It began in August 1957, when the citizens of Morgan County clearly stated they were in favor of the construction of a county hospital under the provisions of the Hill-Burton Act. Funds were raised through bonds purchased by the members of this community. In 1960, the 26-bed hospital opened its doors.Since the first cornerstone was laid more than 40 years ago, Morgan Memorial Hospital has continuously expanded to meet the growing healthcare needs of our community. The completion of a major renovation and expansion project in 1989, the addition of a Skilled Nursing Unit are examples of the vision of the hospital leadership.
