Description

Space Saving X-Y Stage Wins Customers say tighter stage specifications, high quality, unique designs and focus on OEM needs make them a perfect partner from prototyping through to production volumes. One of the latest instrument successes in the biotechnology market is being manufactured by Arcturus Engineering of Mountain View, CA. The instrument is called AutoPix. It is an Automated Laser Capture Micro-dissection System and utilizes a high precision XYR-1111 stage, with several modifications to better suit the instrument. The stage is a monolithic XY design, that utilises a common centre section to hold the ballscrews and motors for both the X and Y motion. This design saves space and improves the overall system performance. The XYR Series is dimensionally identical to the XY Series with the exception of way construction. The XYR Series incorporates precision crossed roller ways for high load capacities and stiffness. Both series boast a monolithic design, which machines orthogonality into a low-profile, 3.5" high unit. This design attaches both motors to the centre section, so they both move with the lower axis. Standard tables include motors, knobs, limit switches, and locking connectors. Travels range from 2” X 2” to 10” X 10”. Please call 01243 545400 for special requirements.Recently a new design grant was awarded on a donor block application due to it’s unique configuration of both linear motors and closed loop servo’s. The design of the X and Y axis’ utilised IL or “iron-less” linear motors for exceptional speed and throughput along with the performance of a non cogging linear motor design. The required stage resolution was 1um. The Z stage incorporated a Goldline XT brushless rotary servo motor with a 2048 ppr encoder. All axis were driven by Digital ServoStar amplifiers that offer advanced control technology along with compact packaging and simplified commissioning.
