Mount Auburn Cemetery was founded in 1831 as America’s first landscaped or garden cemetery. Comprising 175 acres, it has been nominated as a National Historic Landmark. Renowned for its magnificent horticultural collection of trees, shrubs and groundcovers, Mount Auburn is still an active cemetery with over 650 burials each year.
